The measurement of glass density at room temperature is a useful analytical tool to quickly monitor the trends of the glass production process over time. From it, and especially from its variations over time, it is possible to verify the stability of parameters such as chemical composition and the forming and annealing steps.
In SSV, the measurement of glass density at room temperature is performed by buoyancy method according to ASTM C693: through this method, our laboratory can provide results with precision up to the 3rd decimal figure.
To perform the measurement, at least 1 piece of glass weighing about 20g, without bubbles or inclusions, is required .
