Depending on their nature and extent, defects in glass products such as cords, stones, infused particles and devitrifications represent a critical problem for the aesthetical, functional and mechanical properties of the articles.
SSV has developed numerous techniques and methodologies to characterize and identify the different types of defects, in order to define the most appropriate corrective measures to be implemented in the production process for their elimination.
The adopted analytical approach depends on the class of defect and on the production context, and includes technologies such as optical and electron microscopy, chemical or mineralogical microanalysis.
