When glass or ceramic articles are decorated with enamels, paints or glazes, and these decorations might come into contact with food or the lips of users, in several countries the legislation imposes to perform a series of tests not only on the glass substrate, but also on the decoration itself. Similarly, in cases where the articles are made of more than one material (e.g. jars with rubber gaskets, or with plastic caps), the tests required to demonstrate compliance with the regulations in force also involve non-inorganic components.
These are often “complex” scenarios, that vary from country to country, with respect to which Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro is capable of supporting companies by identifying on behalf of the customer the relevant legislation, the prescribed test methods, the regulatory limits to be compliant to, and by performing the necessary laboratory tests.
